Terms of Service

Effective: 11 April 2026 · North Canaan AB

1. Who we are

BJJ Rehab Assistant is operated by North Canaan AB, a company registered in Sweden. References to "we", "us", or "our" mean North Canaan AB. You can reach us at legal@northcanaan.se.

2. What this service is — and is not

BJJ Rehab Assistant is an AI-assisted injury assessment tool designed to help Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners understand musculoskeletal injuries and access general rehabilitation guidance.

This tool does not provide medical diagnoses, medical advice, or professional physiotherapy treatment. It is not a substitute for assessment or treatment by a qualified healthcare professional. The information generated is for general informational purposes only.

Always seek the advice of a licensed physiotherapist, physician, or other qualified health provider regarding any injury, medical condition, or treatment. Do not disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you have read or received from this tool.

3. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, North Canaan AB and its officers, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to personal injury, loss of data, or financial loss, arising from your use of or reliance on this tool.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from your use of this service shall not exceed SEK 500 (or the equivalent in your local currency). Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or liability — in such cases, these limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

4. Privacy and data we collect

We collect and process the following data when you use BJJ Rehab Assistant:

  • Injury description and symptom information you provide during an assessment session
  • Self-test results you report
  • Your email address, if you choose to provide it
  • Feedback and ratings you submit
  • Basic technical data (IP address, browser type) for security and rate-limiting purposes

Session data (injury information, test results) is stored in our database to allow us to improve the assessment engine. It is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

We use Supabase (hosted in the EU) for database storage and OpenAI for AI processing. By using this tool you acknowledge that your session content is processed by these sub-processors in accordance with their respective data processing agreements.

5. GDPR and your rights (EEA residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
  • Right to portability — receive your data in a portable format
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you have given at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email us at legal@northcanaan.se. We will respond within 30 days. The legal basis for processing your data is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in improving the service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

6. Consent to contact

If you provide your email address during an assessment, you are consenting to North Canaan AB contacting you about your assessment results, rehabilitation guidance, and updates to the BJJ Rehab Assistant service. This may include:

  • Follow-up information relevant to your assessed injury
  • Updates to rehabilitation protocols
  • Product updates and new features

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by emailing legal@northcanaan.se. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

7. Data retention

Session data is retained for a maximum of 24 months from the date of collection, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Anonymised, aggregated data (with no personally identifiable information) may be retained indefinitely for research and product improvement purposes.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use this service to submit false, misleading, or malicious content; to attempt to circumvent security measures; to scrape or harvest data; or for any unlawful purpose. We reserve the right to terminate access for violations of these terms.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sweden, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under mandatory local law.
